As part of deviantART Staff Appreciation Week, #StaffAppreciation has organized interviews with our staff members so that we can get to know them a little bit better!
This interview was conducted by the ever-awesome ^bradleysays! Thank you to him, and a big thanks to $damphyr for taking the time to participate!

How are you?
Good as one can be

Could you give us a brief description of what you do, in terms of working for deviantART?
I'm the senior member of the CEA. My duties include the moderation desk handling reports from the community, Help Desk tickets sent in, educating the community and just general search-and-destroy for porn, trolls, etc.
Was joining the dA team a passion or dream, or was it something you happened to get into just as a job?
I was a volunteer for deviantART for several years before I was asked

As part deviantART Staff Appreciation Week, `SanguineEpitaph and #StaffAppreciation team have come up with a fun project for deviants.
Ever wonder what it's like at deviantART Headquarters? So do we! And since most of us will never know, we've decided to let our imaginations run wild and create what we think HQ would be like...if it were run by emoticons!
This project is open for anyone who can create an emote or some sort of pixel art. The project challenges you to make piece representing a part of dA HQ. You can create something specific to a real-life member, such as an emoticon of $Moonbeam13, or something abstract like a general emote member of the Help Desk. We're also looking for pixel furniture (think desks, chairs, sofas), art for the walls, and other fun stuff you might imagine in the HQ offices. The #StaffAppreciation team has started things out, adding some rooms and props. It's up to you to help us complete the pic

So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognise their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.
Some people have received Seniority because of their artistic endevours, having a positive influence on their peers by sharing resources, providing constructive criticism and by being a voice that stands out above the many others who deviate to be recognised in the crowd.

The 5th Annual Bolt Award 5th Annual Bolt Award

The Bolt Award is an accolade that recognizes an individual's significant contributions to deviantART. The Award celebrates such contributions and brings to light the exemplary work performed by its recipient.

In 2007, the first recipient was none other than the award's namesake, Chris Bolt ($chris), and in 2008 we saw Heidi Chambers ($Heidi) presented with the well deserved honor.

In 2009, the Bolt Award went to the pixel perfect Stanley Sy ($starvingartist) who then passed this on to Simon Murray ($pachunka) during our 10th Birthday Celebrations in 2010.

Hello on behalf of #StaffAppreciation! I would like to bring you news of a secret project we're organizing.
I can't tell you very much, though, because it's a surprise for the $taff of deviantART. Here's what I can tell you:

The project we have organized is a gift that will be given to the staff members of deviantART directly.

This project is open to everyone on deviantART, so be sure to spread the word! There is limited space available for this project.

You will need to sign up for this project. Please send a note to #StaffAppreciation with the subject "Secret Project Signup".

When your note is received, you will be added to a mailing list and be kept up-to-date via deviantART notes. If more notes are received than there is space, spots will be allotted according to time of reception of the note.

- Life is very busy, but that's good

What first bought you to deviantart, and what made you stay?
- Wallpapers! I lurked around for a while before finally opening an account. The community are what made me stay -- there's no other like it.
What do you think of the community?
- Like I said before, there's no other like it. You can connect with so many people from all over the world, different types of artists and art appreciators. There's something for everyone.
How do you feel about dASAW?
- I think it's a great example of how awesome our community is. Everyone in the community operations team came from the community, it's a requirement when applying for any job in the department. We love that deviants like to show their love for the community and that they encourage others to appreciate that staff aren't just here because they have a job to do, but that they too appreciate and love the

The twice-monthly article covering news, contests, and other happenings all around the deviantART Emoticon Community. We will also feature interviews, art features, and more. This zine is a collective work of many emoticonists. You can see our full staff list, as well as find additional information on emoticon community events by visiting the official zine group #Emotizine.
Note this is our first zine article, so things are still a bit experimental and we may have missed an item or two. Don't be alarmed. Be sure to follow us over the next few weeks as we broaden our features and get things settled.

You Spotlight the Under Appreciated - Volume 1A while ago, I ran a poll where I asked my watchers and visitors to show me artists they loved, but who they felt were under-appreciated. There were so many suggested artists, I couldn't fit them in one article! I have to admit, it was amazing visiting the galleries of these little-known and somewhat-known deviants. The artist who are featured were suggested by a poll commenter, while the specific piece chosen was selected by me. I have also included some of my own personal "under-appreciated artists" at the end.
This is a 1 of a multi-part series. Part 2 will be featured early next week.

Community Volunteers - A Memoir!You may recently have seen -> Our Favourite Memories and Moments an awesome article written by $fourteenthstar bringing together lots of dA staff members memories and moments.
So The Community Volunteers got chatting and we decided we needed our own collection of memories - because we have some awesome ones!
